Jackfruit is a fruit that comes from tropical soil. Fruit that has another name Artocarpus heterophyllus has a distinctive taste and can be used as a mixture of various foods. In addition, jackfruit is also a fruit that is rich in benefits, one of which is a cancer killer.
Cancer is one of the most deadly diseases in the world after a heart attack and stroke. However, cancer can be prevented by consuming jackfruit. In jackfruit there are cancer prevention substances such as lignans, saponins, and isoflavones, which have anticancer properties, antihypertensei, anti ulcers, antioxidants, as well as anti-aging properties.
Lignans are tissue selective phytoestrogens that have anti-estrogenic effects on reproductive tissue which are very useful for preventing breast cancer, uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, besides that lignans can also help maintain bone density.
Saponin is a type of chemical compound found in many species of plants, including jack fruit. Besides that saponins can also kill cancer cells by directly binding cells and increasing the activity of white blood cells and preventing fermentation and proliferation.
To prevent breast cancer, there are substances in jack-fruit that are very useful for prevention. Isoflavones have been proven to reduce the risk of breast cancer. In a study written in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, in 2012 a team of US and Chinese researchers conducted a study on the benefits of isoflavones in breast cancer patients.
In this study the isoflavones used were those contained in soybeans. The result they found isoflavones can reduce the risk of breast cancer, also reduce the death rate from breast cancer, although not significant.
Other substances contained in this fruit are flavonoids, and polyphenols which are able to reduce blood pressure, fight stomach ulcers, increase metabolism, support nerve function, and play a role in hormone synthesis. In addition, Jackfruit also contains polysaccharides that increase immunity by interacting with white blood cells.
In addition to the fruit which is beneficial for cancer, part of the Jackfruit tree is also useful. Examples of such flowers can help stop bleeding in open wounds, prevent ringworm infestation and prevent cracks in dry feet. While Jackfruit roots, can also be used to cure skin diseases, asthma, and diarrhea.
